Care Guide - Hats

Our STS Ranchwear hat collection is made up of multiple fabrics. We have had some questions about the best cleaning method for our hats, and we want to ensure your hat stays clean and protected while keeping you company. Hand-washing is the safest cleaning method. Below are our recommended steps for cleaning depending on your hat’s material!

1.  Mix cold water with a tablespoon of gentle detergent or dish soap in a bowl. Submerge the area of the hat you intend to clean.

• Use 1 tablespoon of mild laundry detergent or dish soap mixed with cool water.
• If your hat has a leather patch, do not submerge the leather patch.

2.  Hand wash gently.

• Use a soft brush to scrub stains. Scrub in one direction, avoid going back and forth as this may damage the hat.
• Focus on the inner sweatband to remove sweat buildup.

3.  Rinse thoroughly with cold water.

4.  Dry your hat.

• Pat dry with a towel.
• Avoid harsh wringing to maintain the hats shape.

5.  Allow hat to air dry, avoiding direct heat.

• Using a fan can help speed up the drying process. Make sure you are blowing cool air on the hat and not hot air.

6.  Once dry, use a lint roller to remove lint if needed.

• Use a hat shaped object (like a bowl) to maintain the hats form.

• For stubborn stains, use a mixture of white vinegar and water or a mild detergent diluted with water.
  • Vinegar 1:3 ration for a gentler soak.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of mild laundry detergent or dish soap into a sink or bucket filled with cool water.
• If your hat has a leather patch, do not submerge the leather patch.

3.  Gently scrub stains with a soft brush.

• Avoid high heat, bleach and harsh wringing to prevent shrinkage or damage.
