Fall Bucket List - Family Friendly Activities

As the chill breeze rolls in, so do fall activities. It can be overwhelming sifting through the internet with a list of 100 things you "must do." So, bundle up with STS Ranchwear and use our fall bucket list to make the most of this season without the stress!

GHOSTLY CHARCUTERIE BOARD

A charcuterie board is the perfect way to elevate any gathering. Add a spooky twist by cutting your cheese into the shape of a bone or ghost. Your imagination can completely transform this staple snack plate into a festive bite!

Board Basics:

  • Mix of soft and hard cheeses
  • Crackers and/or crostini
  • Variety of jams
  • Olives and mini pickles
  • Fruits of your choice
  • Veggies of your choice

Find a large serving board and get to work! Use the tools you have at home to shape and craft your board to perfection. In the pictured board above we took a pumpkin cheesecake bar and cut it into a checkerboard pattern, putting whipped cream dollops in between! Adding this sweet treat was a fun addition to a traditional meat and cheese board.

APPLE PICKING

Apple-picking season runs from late August through October, so make memories and enjoy the beautiful views at your local farm. Take your pick of warm or cold apple cider. Both are delicious and keep within the festivities!

SPOOKY PIZZA & MOVIE NIGHT

Queue up your favorite scary movies while the oven preheats for homemade pizzas. Shape your pizza crust as a pumpkin or ghost using the toppings to decorate! This will make the perfect fall evening.

Below are a few ideas to use for your pizza:

  • Cut pepperonis into triangles for a simple pumpkin face. 
  • Use mozzarella logs to create a ghost body and black olives for the eyes!
  • Black olives can be sliced in half and placed face down. Fanning thinly slice black olives on both sides as legs makes it easy to add a few spiders!
  • Slice a tomato and place the circular slices around your pizza adding basil as their "leaves" to look like apples! A little bit of balsamic glaze added at the end will make the stems. 
  • The controversial pineapple on pizza would make the perfect candy corn. Cut and layer pineapple, mozzarella and tomato to achieve this design.

The sky is the limit and any pizza topping can be turned into a decoration! All you need is a little imagination and a lot of patience.

PUMPKIN CARVING

Pick the perfect pumpkin with your family and friends during the day and spend the evening decorating! Keep it classic with pumpkin decorating. Use a carving kit or a knife you have to (carefully) make fun and spooky faces in your pumpkin. 

We recommend keeping the pumpkin seeds for roasting rather than discarding them!

While carving is the traditional option, painting your pumpkins is an option that keeps the theme without worrying about the pumpkin quickly decomposing on your porch. Your local craft store will have acrylic paint which works easily for pumpkins while staying affordable. If you are painting on a classic orange pumpkin we recommend a few layers of white paint before your design so that you can easily see it!

Pinterest and Google are great resources for inspiration or just let your mind run wild.
